BRAC Myanmar, the Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO), and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands hosted a joint event on June 18, 2019, to discuss Myanmar’s sustainable development plan (SDP). Representatives from the Netherlands Embassy, FMO, BRAC Myanmar, Philips Myanmar, and Cordaid Myanmar gathered for a panel discussion at the event held at Chatrium Hotel, Yangon, with a total of 70 attendees.
Mr Hans Anand Beck, lead economist of The World Bank Myanmar, highlighted key points through a presentation. Following that, Mr Wouter Jurgens, ambassador of the Netherlands in Myanmar, discussed the Dutch policy for Myanmar. ATM Tariqul Islam, country representative of BRAC Myanmar, and Linda Broekhuizen, chief investment officer of FMO, gave a presentation on BRAC and FMO respectively. Further ahead, the panelists enthusiastically discussed about trends, stakeholder activities, projections, perceptions and challenges in Myanmar’s SDP. The session was moderated by Mr Hans Anand Beck.
The event concluded with a feedback discussion and recommendations for an effective sustainable Dutch approach in Myanmar.
