BRAC family across the world celebrate BRAC Day

The 46th anniversary of BRAC was celebrated by BRAC head and country offices. Every year BRAC’s staff and clients celebrate the day to recognise BRAC’s journey and its contributions to global development since its birth on 21 March 1972.

There was a grand celebration at BRAC’s head office in Dhaka. The founder and chairperson, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, acknowledged the staff from across the world who continue to tackle extreme challenges to make the world a better place. There was a cultural show performed by children from BRAC’s schools. The day concluded with Sir Fazle presenting certificates to the “IamBRAC” and “BRAC Value Award” winners. BRAC also organised an exhibition where visitors participated in immersive experiences on the Rohingya crisis, and BRAC’s role in the lives of its participants.

In Nepal, we invited our partners to join us in the celebrations. Executive director of FOWEP Kavre, Krishna Chandra Acharya, and chairperson of Nepal Mahila Ekata Samaj expressed their appreciation on becoming a part of the BRAC family through the partnerships with BRAC in Nepal.

In Pakistan, staff participated at all of the regional and area offices by sharing their experiences at BRAC. They pledged to take BRAC’s mission of poverty alleviation in Pakistan by being proactive and innovative in their work approaches.

In Sierra Leone, staff celebrated with a quiz competition, a raffle draw, a musical chair competition and a cultural performance by our adolescent club members. Following the festivities, Mariatu Kamara was conferred with the BRAC Value Award winner.

In Tanzania, the day was celebrated with singing and dancing competitions among staff from all the branches, as well as team building sessions and games.

In Uganda, a competition was held where each programme presented their ideas illustrating “What BRAC Means”. The winner was the ELA programme as they showcased a range of entertainment such as singing, dance and drama. Viola Twinomugisha was congratulated at the end for being one of the BRAC values award winners.
