On 5th October, BRAC Myanmar organised and event to celebrate World Teachers’ Day at two schools – Basic Education High School at Bago Township and Myoma Basic Education Middle School at Kyauktan Township. At Bago Township, a welcome speech was delivered by regional manager of the BRAC regional office, following this, BRAC Myanmar rewarded prizes to the students who won the essay competition. Along with thank you speeches delivered by a representative teacher and a student, the important role of teachers and theme of this year’s World Teachers’ Day was also discussed. Refreshments were provided to all the attendees.
At Kyauktan Township, Aung Kyaw Soe, Project Officer, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) team, delivered a welcome speech. Following this, drawing competition was held and the winning students were rewarded. Thank you speech was also shared by a teacher and a student. Finally, refreshments were provided to all teachers, students and parents who attended that day celebration.
The theme for World Teacher’s Day 2018 was – The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher. BRAC Myanmar shared respect, showed gratitude, and expressed appreciation to all the great teachers around the world.
